Footnote
Imagine a trade has occurred.
A number is transferred as a transaction figure.
To whom is this number divided among and what is it spent on?
- The trader who initiated the trade.
- The original manufacturer or factory owner.
- Raw materials or funds for fuel and energy, etc.
- Workers involved in production or in transportation and other areas of commercial services.
According to statistics, between 10 to 50 percent of transaction money belongs to group 4, which comprises workers, and is distributed among them.
This means that if a transaction of 1 billion tomans, which is among the lowest figures in trades, occurs, between 100 million to 500 million tomans of it is allocated to workers.
Each worker receives an average of 8 to 9 million tomans according to labor laws, which we consider as 10 million tomans including overtime.
Thus, with each 1 billion tomans transaction, between 10 to 50 individuals are employed.
This translates to 10 to 50 families.
Although an income of 10 million tomans might not be desirable, it is better than nothing.
It is better for the worker than unemployment and sitting idle at home.
Now imagine a trade with a transaction amounting to 10 billion tomans.
This means that between 100 to 500 individuals are employed.
100 to 500 families have bread on their tables.
100 to 500 elderly parents pray for the well-being of their children who are employed and leading a healthy life thanks to the employment opportunities.
It is narrated from Imam Sadiq that he said:
"The prayer of an elderly man or woman whose hair has turned white in Islam is answered.
The Lord is ashamed not to grant their prayer because they have spent their lives in the path of Islam."
Hence, we see that traders experience the least divorce rates, incarcerations, sudden and painful deaths, incurable diseases, and other unpleasant fates compared to other occupations.
They are supported by the heartfelt prayers of broken-hearted servants of God.
Now, if there were no traders, what would happen?
This entire production cycle would come to a halt.
And all these employments would disappear.
This is one of the blessings of trade.
Meanwhile, in other routes such as dollar, currency, and gold… most people are harmed, and even if a few benefit, it is at the expense of others' losses.
Not only does no job come into existence, but with the expansion of such types of investments, many jobs perish.
Instead of circulating money in society to keep the economic wheel turning, people hoard and count it in a corner.
It seems they have not heard that their Lord has condemned this ugly act and said:
Woe to every [kind of] scandal-monger and-backbite, 1
Who pileth up wealth and layeth it by. 2 (Surah Al-Humazah)
When a trader's presence diminishes from this world, depending on how much they have expanded their trade, the lives of many people become disrupted.
And when a trader is added to the world, the lives of many people flourish.
Most people do not understand these matters, but the Lord of the worlds knows who strives for the dignity of His servants, so He bestows goodness and blessings upon that path.
Perhaps for this reason, nine-tenths of His daily portions have been placed in trade so that whoever is benevolent towards His servants may have a greater share of worldly wealth.
Although some groups of traders deviate from righteousness and trustworthiness and prioritize lies and betrayal, the existence of these individuals cannot diminish the virtue and nobility of trade.
We have many Muslims with ugly behaviors, but their existence does not tarnish Islam.
Similarly, the presence of treacherous traders does not reflect poorly on trade itself.
