Because there is demand for dried figs of lesser grades and weights as well as demand for figs of better quality with good color and nuts, the kind of dried figs that are shipped also relies on the nation that imports them.
The following categories make up the different kinds of exported figs:
- Dried fig grade 101 (AAA)
This form of dried fig is the most costly because its seeds have a light color (white and yellow) and a reasonably big size (greater than 24 mm).
Additionally, the seeds in this type of dried fig are entirely open, and it does not include any seeds that are a dark color or tiny in size.
Dried figs of grade 101 (AA) have seeds that are lighter in color (white and yellow on average) and have an average coarse size of 22 mm.
Within this category, no more than ninety percent of the dried fig seeds will have open mouths, and no more than four percent will have a dark tint.
Dried figs of grade 101 (A) feature seeds that are a lighter hue, often white or yellow, and range in size from 14 to 22 mm.
At least 15 percent of the seeds in figs that have been dried have an open mouth, and no more than 15 percent of the seeds are black.
Dried figs of grade AA have seeds that are mostly white or yellow 0 millimeters on average in diameter.
At least 45% of the dried fig seeds of this variety have an open mouth, and the percentage of dark-colored seeds does not exceed 4%.
Dried figs of grade A have seeds that are yellow and brown and measure an average of 20 millimeters in diameter.
The majority of the dried fig seeds in this variety have mouths that are closed, but at least 25% of them have open mouths.
Dried figs of grade B have seeds that are brown and gray and are 14 millimeters on average in diameter.
The majority of the dried fig seeds in this variety have mouths that are closed, with at least 3% having open mouths.
Pressed figs of grade A include wet fig seeds that have been compressed into tablets by the machine.
These pressed figs, which are light in color and come in 250-, 400-, and 500-gram containers, are graded as "A."
Compared to grade A, which comes in 250, 400, and 500-gram containers, grade B pressed figs to have a darker color and contains wet fig seeds that are compressed into tablets by the machine.
Grade B pressed figs also have a deeper tint.
How figs are packaged also has a significant bearing on sales and exports of the product.
If they are packaged in a way that is modern, attractive, and up to industry standards, many clients who live outside of Iran may be interested in purchasing Iranian figs.
