In the first three months of the current fiscal year, Iran shipped 6.932 million tons of goods to Iraq for a total value of $2.398 billion, according to a press statement published by the secretary of the Iranian-Iraqi Chamber of Commerce today, Saturday.
It is noteworthy that compared to the same period in 2017, Iran shipped commodities to Iraq worth $2.817 billion totaling 10,951 million tons.
The Ilam Governorate, which is divided from Iraq by a shared border of 420 kilometers, is where the Mahran crossing is situated.
In a news interview today, Ruhollah Gholami, the director general of customs in the border province of Ilam, revealed that in the first ten months of the current solar year, 217,000 tons of summer agricultural products, valued at $66 million, were sold to Iraq at the Mahran crossing.
In the first ten months of this year, the Mahran crossing shipped 1 million 736 thousand tons of various commodities worth 870 million dollars to Iraq, representing a growth rate of 119 percent in terms of weight and 112 percent in terms of value compared to the same time last year.
There has been a noteworthy increase in exports from the border crossing, according to the Director-General of the Customs Authority in the western Iranian province of Ilam, who reported that 1.31 million tons of commodities of all types have been sold to Iraq through the Mahran crossing.
Iran Press - Iran: According to Rohullah Gholami, 1.31 million tons of commodities worth $524 million were exported from Iran to Iraq through the Mehran border in the current solar year, a 140 percent rise over the previous one.
The majority of goods exported to Iraq through the border crossing, according to him, were "building materials, home appliances, plastic and industrial products, glass, metal products, fruits and vegetables.
" The most crucial border crossing point for the flow of private automobiles, trucks filled with export goods, and cars loaded with pilgrims traveling to Iraq's holy shrines is the Mahran crossing, which is situated in the southwest of the Ilam Governorate.
Relations between Iraq and the United Kingdom are also historically strong.
The two countries have signed a commercial contract in the past two decades, marking the beginning of a new era of cooperation.
