6. New Contact and Follow-Up

Whether you are a trader or a business enterprise owner, you must allocate your time to two main tasks.

1. New Contact

2. Follow-Up

New Contact refers to communicating with someone for the first time.

Follow-Up refers to contacting someone you have previously spoken with to continue previous negotiations.

For business enterprise owners, new contact and follow-up are typically conducted over the phone. However, for traders, in addition to phone calls, follow-up may also occur through messaging on social networks.

If we want to illustrate a new contact in agriculture, it is like planting a new seed, and follow-up is like taking care of that seed until it bears fruit.

If you remember, in agriculture, it was said that there are three stages.

1. Planting is the new contact.

2. Caring is the follow-up.

3. Harvesting is the result of continuous follow-ups.

Now, look at your lifestyle.

Do you make new contacts every day?

If your answer is positive, it means you will definitely experience a successful business.

But if your answer is negative, failure is certainly yours, even if you make sales today. Because, as you may recall, in Lesson 121 of the Business School by Mr. Shabani, he explains that all businesses die, but the businesses of Aradis never die.

One of the main reasons Aradis are always active is that they have new leads and signals every day, and their new negotiations lead to new planting. Naturally, since they plant, they will eventually harvest.

And this is God's promise, as He says:

“That man can have nothing but what he strives for; That [the fruit of] his striving will soon come in sight.” Surah An-Najm, Verses 39 and 40

It is clear from this verse that the time of striving is different from the time of results, due to the word "sawfa", meaning after some time.

This is the design of the creation system, and it has nothing to do with trade.

A husband and wife see the result of having a child nine months after marriage.

A farmer sees the fruit of the seed they planted after several months or even years.

Even an employee sees the result of their work at the end of the month.

The only group that sees the result of their work immediately, and Islam emphasizes this, are the workers, whose wages must be paid before their sweat dries.

It is proven worldwide that the quicker the time to get results, the lower the social status of that profession.

This means that jobs with daily income are at a lower level than those with monthly income, and these are lower than those with annual income.

Therefore, Allah has based His calculations on the year in religious matters. Zakat (a form of almsgiving) and Khums (an obligatory religious tax) are calculated annually, although a person can account for them daily or monthly, the customary practice is annual. This shows that Allah did not base His system on labor and employment but on trade, production, agriculture, livestock, and similar industries, whose incomes are calculated annually.

7. Time Management in New Contacts and Follow-up

Let’s assume you want to dedicate time throughout the day to new contacts and follow-up.

A common question is how much of your time should be spent on new contacts and how much on follow-up?

If you are in the early days of your business, you naturally won’t have much follow-up, as follow-up is defined for those who have had new contacts.

Initially, 80% of your time will be spent on new contacts, and 20% on follow-up.

However, as time progresses, this ratio will shift in favor of follow-up, so that within a short period of time, typically less than 3 months (with consistency), about 40% of your time will be spent on new contacts, and 60% on follow-up.

Business enterprise owners and traders should note that a new contact, which is the initial call, should be between 5 to 15 minutes.

Calls shorter than 5 minutes have little to no impact on the customer’s mindset, and calls longer than 15 minutes can cause fatigue, diminishing the effectiveness of future follow-ups.

To enhance your negotiation skills and strengthen your mental approach, please write in the comments:

1. What points do you consider essential to mention during the first contact?

2. What phrases should not be said during the first contact?

3. Is it possible for someone who has daily new contacts and follow-ups for three months not to succeed?

9. The Telegram channel: nine-tenths of wealth is in trade.

As you can see at the beginning of the daily news, two headlines are provided every day for newcomers: one is an audio file, and the other is an article.

The senior managers put in the effort to create and deliver the audio files, while the articles are the responsibility of the author.

In the Telegram channel "Nine-tenths of wealth is in trade" at the link below, both files are uploaded, and in addition, Arad Branding's announcements will also be shared with Aradis through this channel.

Getting new connections and then having follow ups on the customers is the main path which will lead to profit.
If we do not have any new business connections in a day, that day we have not worked at all and cannot consider it at all.

On business, dealing with negative thoughts involves recognizing them, reframing your mindset, and practicing strategies to shift your focus.

Negotiation skills in business are one of the most important skills that can have a profound impact on a person’s success.
Arad tries to update us on this subject every day. Effective negotiation allows people to understand the needs and desires of the other party, reach agreements that both satisfy their own interests and create a positive and lasting relationship. This skill includes the ability to listen actively, the art of persuasion, conflict management, and the flexibility to reach win-win solutions. In the business world, negotiation skills can lead to reduced costs, increased profits, strengthened business relationships, and improved reputation for an individual or company.

Another beautiful piece! It's absolutely true that following a consistent schedule of reaching out to new customers while maintaining follow-ups with existing ones over a 90-day period makes success almost inevitable. This aligns with the Law of Averages, which states that for every X number of prospects, you will secure Y number of customers.
The same principle applies here: while we may not achieve the same results with every attempt, consistent effort and perseverance will undoubtedly yield positive outcomes over time. If we keep hustling and staying committed, success is simply a matter of when, not if. Love this peice!!

Thank you for this insightful article. I agree that consistency in new contacts and follow-up is crucial for success in business.

My answers to exercise on point number 8.

1- Introduction, purpose of the call, engagement, call to action.
2- Showing lack of confidence, lack of interest in the product. “I don’t know, but I’ll find out, This might not be relevant, but..., You need to buy this today, I don’t have time to explain fully, I’m not sure this will work for you”.
3- Yes, it’s possible, due to factors such as ineffective communication, poor understanding of customer needs, or offering a product/service that doesn't solve the right problems.
