This herbal shampoo bar recipe is one of my favorites since I can make it right in my kitchen using ingredients I grow in my garden. I have to confess that I avoided making my soap for a very long time because I was apprehensive about the whole process. This was the one thing that I did not do for a very long time. However, once I completed it, I found it was not quite as tricky as I had anticipated. Since I began to create my soap, I've also developed an interest in producing my shampoo bars. Making soap follows the same basic steps. However, the ingredients used here are much superior to soap when it comes to promoting healthy hair. I'm certain that you'll like these rosemary-mint shampoo bars that I produced in my own kitchen. Tutorial on Making Shampoo Bars with Rosemary and Mint This recipe for rosemary mint shampoo bars is taken from the Handmade Natural Soaps eBook Collection written by Jan Berry (of the Nerdy Farm Wife blog), and she has been so kind as to allow me to share it with you! In addition, she provides a package deal that contains both the ebook collection and the soapmaking class. I can't stress enough how valuable these materials are, particularly if you're just starting in the world of homemade soap or shampoo bars!

  • INGREDIENTS OF THE SHAMPOO BAR

Mountain Rose Herbs is my go-to retailer when it comes to purchasing carrier oils, essential oils, and dried herbs for use in the production of soap. Lye is purchased from Essential Depot by me. Although lye is required to produce these shampoo bars, you shouldn't be too concerned about its presence. Lye is an essential ingredient in soap production; without it, there would be no soap! Because of the saponification process, there will be no trace of lye in the finished soap bar; nonetheless, you will need to use caution while handling it. Please refer to my page on how to make soap for beginners if you are new to the process of producing soap, or download Jan's Natural Soapmaking eBook bundle if you are looking for a more comprehensive list of the necessary equipment. People just getting started in this will find that it explains everything in great detail and goes into much more depth than they ever could have imagined. BEFORE YOU GET STARTED, MAKE THE OIL INFLUENCED WITH ROSEMARY. Making an oil infused with rosemary is the first thing you need to do to prepare this shampoo bar recipe. Infuse about one cup of olive oil with one-fourth of a cup of dried rosemary in a cold and dark location for a minimum of two weeks (or use the quick heat method on the stovetop if you prefer). After the rosemary has been steeped in the oil for the appropriate amount of time, and when ready to prepare the shampoo bars, filter the rosemary through a sieve with a fine mesh. BEFORE YOU BEGIN MAKING THE SHAMPOO BARS, Prepare THE PEPPERMINT TEA. Make the peppermint tea when you are ready to begin making the shampoo bars. To prepare the tea, put one tablespoon of dried peppermint into one cup of boiling water and let it steep for 16 to 21 minutes. Before using it, let it reach room temperature and then strain it.

While protecting your hands and eyes with long sleeves, goggles, and gloves, pour the cooled peppermint tea into a heat-resistant pitcher. After that, weigh the lye and gently sprinkle it into the tea while stirring it. Put the solution away in a secure location so that it can cool down. Allow the lye solution to cool for 30 to 40 minutes, or until the temperature falls between 101 and 111 degrees Fahrenheit (38 and 43 degrees Celsius). Take the appropriate weight measurements for the oils. First, the coconut oil should be measured out and melted before being combined with the other oils. This should increase the temperature of the oils up to somewhere between 32 and 38 degrees Celsius, which is around 90 to 100 degrees Fahrenheit. If required, the oils may be gently heated to get the temperature up to between 90 and 100 degrees Fahrenheit (32 and 38 degrees Celsius). Proceed with caution as you add the lye solution to the oils. Hand stirring, in addition to using a stick or immersion blender, should be used to combine the ingredients until a trace is achieved. After adding the essential oils, pour the soap mixture into a mold, cover it, and keep it warm with a cloth or a blanket. If you like, you may create a pattern on the top of the soap bar by using a spatula. After allowing the soap to cure the mold for one to two days, you may take it out of the form, let it cool, and then cut it into bars. Before using the shampoo bars, let them dry out in the open air for four to six weeks. How to Make the Most of Shampoo Bars The primary distinction between shampoo bars and regular bars of soap is that they are formulated with various well-known oils for their beneficial effects on hair, such as jojoba oil and argan oil. The use of rosemary and mint, two plants known for their beneficial effects on hair, is also every day in this context. The Handmade Natural Soaps eBook Collection includes information on a wide variety of other herbs beneficial to the hair and scalp. If you want to use the shampoo bars, you have to massage the bar into your hair and then lather it up as you usually would. Jan also discusses the significance of utilizing a vinegar rinse in conjunction with shampoo bars, and she offers some excellent suggestions and recipes for this kind of product. You could also simply use apple cider vinegar. I have a feeling that you are going to like these rosemary mint shampoo bars. To begin with, they have the most incredible aroma in the world. They have a pleasant peppermint flavor and a herbaceous and piney quality from the rosemary. You may use these shampoo bars not only for your hair, since they are fantastic for your hair, but you can also use them as ordinary soap. I believe that producing soap has successfully turned me into an addict. Never again will I have to purchase soap (or shampoo)!
