We like pumpkins, the season of autumn, and kid-friendly painting projects! The zentangle pumpkins are really a delightful Fall twist on a traditional zentangle painting project. To get started, all you'll need are a few basic tools and our zentangle pumpkins printable. A zentangle is an unstructured and organized design that is commonly drawn on tiny black and white square tiles. Tangles are the patterns that are created. You may create a tangle using one or more dots, lines, curves, and other elements. As there is no obligation to concentrate on the ultimate result, Zentangle painting may be quite calming. Step one: print the pumpkin template. step two: use the pumpkin template to zentangle. step 2: Using a marker, create different patterns for your zentangle creations. So I've created a new project called Pumpkin Appliqué, which I've planned to be simple to apply. You may use it to make a cushion (A4) or a wider project (A3) like the one I'm making. I created two patterns: 'Pumpkin appliqué'*, as shown in the photo above, and 'Pumpkin appliqué mirror'*. The first template is for real appliqué placement; the second pattern, "Pumpkin appliqué mirror," is a mirror image that you'll need for iron-on using Heat'n Bonding Lite at the back of cloth pieces. What is the mechanism behind this? Examine the components carefully using the mirror version: each piece should be drawn separately onto Heat'n Bond Lite. You can opt to sketch each area of the pumpkins separately if you want to use several fabrics, but I chose to draw the outer outlines of each pumpkin since I want to construct them all in one piece and quilted the details afterward. If you're using Heat'n Bond Lite to apply appliqué to a piece that will be 'behind' another area, you'll need a slight extra/seam allowance. Simply add lines projecting about 3 mm beyond the secion's outer lines. The portions that are on top can be drawn in as is; only the parts that will be ironed on the first another will require such a seam allowance. Separately draw each portion onto Heat'n Bond Lite. Check to see whether you've drawn them all; don't leave anything out. When sketching the different items, make sure there would be enough space between them to allow for simple cutting. Cut them 3 mm away from the sketched outlines with paper scissors. Organize all of the parts into groups. 
If you're using Heat'n Bond Lite to apply appliqué to a piece that will be 'behind' another area, you'll need a slight extra/seam allowance. Simply add lines projecting about 3 mm beyond the secion's outer lines. The portions that is on top can be drawn in as is; only the parts that will be ironed on the first another will require such a seam allowance. Separately draw each portion onto Heat'n Bond Lite. Check to see whether you've drawn them all; don't leave anything out. When sketching the different items, make sure there would be enough space between them to allow for simple cutting. Cut them 3 mm away from the sketched outlines with paper scissors. Organize all of the parts into groups. What kind of textiles do you require? Small remains, just big enough in the sliced pieces. - Pumpkins yellow/orange – 3 different colors at a minimum — Light brown stems- one fabric - Green Leaves – a variety of colors and patterns - Purple shadow beneath the pumpkins – whichever hue you like. For the backdrops, I'll need two fat quarters each of sky and grass. For the sky, I used a light blue/purple cloth, and for the grass, I chose a green fabric. I sewed them together to form a horizon. The textiles for the pieces have been chosen and laid together so that I can verify whether everything is in order and add or remove textiles as needed. I've glued the Heat'n Bond Lite cutouts to the backs of the material pieces. Fabrics for the backdrop have been pressed flat and sewed together. I don't have an exact dimension for the project yet; I'll figure it out as I'm working, so I've just put them on my iron pad. Pieces are pressed on and then cut on the outside lines when they have cooled. The appliqué pieces have been placed on the Mirror design so that I can spot them once more before appliqueing. This is a fantastic technique to ensure that you have all of the components. The 'Pumpkin appliqué' regular design is for placing - I've removed the paper off the back of the huge pumpkin and will lay it the same side up on the background cloth. 
I'm not going to iron just yet. I'll use my iron once I've placed all of the appliqué sections on the backdrop. Avoid the moving-iron syndrome by just placing your iron on top of the appliqué pieces, lifting it, and placing it on the next parts. Do not start moving your iron back and forth on your applique pieces as this may cause them to shift. The rationale for ironing just after each component is in its proper location is because if you press with each piece, the initial ones will be pressed every time, causing the glue to disappear. This is a close-up of the entire appliqué, which has yet to be detailed. Those features can be created using turquoise and/or white water-soluble ink, then quilted over to hide the lines. You'll have an indicator for quilting if you create these detailed lines. I'll sew it all and frame this creation next time: For this quilt, I have a lovely wooden frame. Will you come back with me? As you learn how to build your own zentangle pumpkin drawing, grab your crayons and get ready to doodle. This drawing project's extremely short supply list makes it extremely simple and accessible to anyone! Whether you're drawing on this pumpkin artwork at home or in a classroom, you'll almost certainly have everything you need! It's wise to keep things simple. Here's what you'll need. I used 8.5 x 11 postcard stock for the paper. If you just have copy-weight paper, use it. Sharpie or another black permanent marker a black marker with a fine point, ideally permanent Washable colored markers, such as these Crayola markers come in a variety of hues. We're going to start by sketching a large, basic pumpkin shape. When you're comfortable with the shape, draw it with a pencil and outline it with a black permanent marker. Alternatively, if you prefer a more free-form sketching technique, feel free to get right in with pen drawing! Begin by sketching a really long and slender oval in the center of the page for your pumpkin drawing. Draw a curved line from the top that goes down and curls back into the bottom. 
As a result, the pumpkin "segments" are formed. Repeat on either side of the huge central oval two times. Include a stem, perhaps some leaves, and a vine. The pumpkin is drawn huge, which is an important aspect of the image. The rest is just frosting on the cake. Make 5 or 6 lines that span from one side of the pumpkin to the other using the black permanent marker. This is what produces the areas for zentangle drawings to be filled in. The number of lines drawn defines the number of parts and their size. For younger children, I recommend using fewer, larger portions and gradually increasing the number of sections as your pupils become older and have a greater attention span. Now begins the fun part: putting the Zentangle drawings on the page. Fill each pumpkin part with a different design. This is the moment to utilise any permanent black markers with varied thicknesses, such as a very fine tip. Teach your children to draw a variety of line types, such as curvy, straight, thin, thick, and so on. Consider attempting to get a balance of bright and dark areas within the pumpkin as well. Because you're utilizing tiny drawings to fill a rather large space, Zentangle may be time-consuming. However, it's also soothing and nearly therapeutic. Get yourself a drink, if not food, and sit down to doodle. 
To save young hands from becoming too tired, divide your Zentangle pumpkin over two or more sittings. Zentangle designs are traditionally black and white. Although I like the addition of color to this image, it may easily be completed in black and white. Color the different portions using washable markers. If you have a collection of markers that covers a range of yellows, oranges, browns, and greens, this is a fantastic location to put them to use.
