Manufacturers of bags made from leather in Texas USA: In my home studio located in the suburbs to the north of Dallas, Texas, where I am the owner, operator and only employee of Jenny N., I design and build high-end leather bags using only the finest materials. Making stuff has always been one of my favorite hobbies. My grandma came all the way from Vietnam to see us when I was just six years old. Because I was unable to communicate with her in Vietnamese and she was unable to comprehend English, our time together was spent playing an extended game of charades. Because she ultimately was the one to instruct me on how to knit, I would say that our efforts were effective. I started by cutting a thin rectangle of magenta fabric, which I then folded in half to form a bag. I went to my mum for assistance since I wanted to make the design better. My mother showed me how to make my pouch into a bag by using a vintage Singer sewing machine (which she only ever used for hemming my father's work trousers) and some leftover fabric from an old pair of pants. She also showed me how to stitch a basic bag liner and a strap for the bag. As an outlet for the creativity that had been building up inside of me, I founded Jenny N. when I was a student at The University of Texas in Austin studying biomedical engineering. This fact didn't surprise anybody. I finally decided to invest in a camera, some fabric, and a Singer sewing machine with all of the money that I had saved up. Soon after, I began constructing handbag prototypes and putting them up for sale on the internet. What began as an interesting diversion from my studies quickly evolved into a legitimate enterprise. I reasoned that operating my own company would enable me to pursue a line of work that was personally fulfilling to me while also allowing me the freedom to set my own schedule and relocate anywhere I pleased in the globe. What I didn't comprehend at the time was that having a company requires a dedication twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. I also didn't realize that industrial sewing machines and leather skins are quite heavy to transport, but that's beside the point. Jenny N. was and still is my passion project in every sense of the word. I have been operating my entire business out of a small office in our home for the past 14 years, and it is something that gives me a great deal of pride. I make each bag with great care from the beginning to the end, and then I give it a hug good-bye before sending it off to be shipped to its new owner. It's possible that Jenny N. doesn't fit the dominant narrative of our mass-produced society, but here's more than a thousand bag hugs for all of you! Because I am an artist by temperament and an engineer by training, my company is the result of the synthesis of my own creative style and the technical concepts I learned during my time studying biomedical engineering at The University of Texas at Austin. My design style is best described by the distinguishing features of simplicity and adaptability. My handbags are made with: Leather of the highest quality, cut from the grain, sourced from cows in North Carolina, Virginia, and Texas. Zippers made by YKK, which are produced in Georgia a liner made of water-resistant canvas, which was produced in New Jersey, and Thread made of bonded nylon and polyester, produced in the state of Washington. My bags are sewed using an industrial sewing machine made of cast iron that was purchased in Ohio. I use bonded nylon thread, which is often used in car upholstery, and strengthen them with metal rivets. The majority of my handbags can be worn in a variety of different styles, such as crossbody or backpack, or may be altered to be worn in these ways. My bags are designed by first sketching out the final silhouette in a notebook, and then use reverse engineering to construct a template based on the design. I began by cutting a template out of a whole leather hide, which would later be used to create a pattern after it was stitched, lined, and riveted. When a bag is finished, I take a minute to feel like a proud mother and give it a last hug goodbye. I then wrap it with a hand-written message and send it off to a new loving home, where I hope it will be used often for the rest of its life! Collection of Works Executed by Hand I painstakingly hand painted the graphics using leather acrylic paint made by Angelus, a firm established in Los Angeles that has been producing shoe polish and paints since 1907 and is currently the paint brand that is utilized for customizing sneakers. This long-lasting paint is non-crack and non-flake, in addition to being permanent and flexible.
