8. Conscious and Subconscious Actions
All Human Actions and Behaviors Are Divided into Two Categories: Conscious and Subconscious.
Conscious actions are those that require our focus and attention to be carried out.
Subconscious actions, on the other hand, are those we perform even when we are not aware of them.
For example, we humans breathe.
When we breathe, do we need to consciously focus on it, or does it happen without our awareness?
It becomes clear that breathing is a subconscious action.
When you first tried to learn how to drive, could you do so without focus and attention?
Could you drive from your home’s parking lot to the end of the street without paying attention to the clutch, brakes, accelerator, and steering wheel?
You couldn’t, and you needed to perform it with concentration. Therefore, driving in the early days was a conscious action.
But today, after years of driving, you can travel from one city to another without once focusing on the clutch or brake. This means it has become a subconscious action.
Thus, it is evident that any action repeated and practiced sufficiently transitions from being conscious to subconscious.
In the early days of writing comments, how different were you compared to today, after a year of doing so?
At first, every word you wrote required full concentration, but now your hands move across your phone screen, and you type subconsciously.
Repetition and practice in any task can transition it from conscious to subconscious.
A significant point is that performing conscious actions is difficult for humans, whereas subconscious actions feel effortless.
When you intend to pray with awareness and focus, notice how much it strains your mind.
However, when you pray without attention, it feels much less demanding.
Bodybuilders say that during a workout, think only about the weights you’re lifting. Otherwise, the impact of the exercise diminishes.
You might think, "What difference does it make?
Twenty kilograms is still twenty kilograms, and the goal is to strengthen my arms. Whether my focus is on the weights or on other thoughts should not affect muscle building."
But it actually makes a significant difference.
When your attention is elsewhere and weightlifting becomes a subconscious act, it doesn’t put as much strain on you. However, when you are focused on the weights, you feel the full effects.
A historical example of this concept is when an arrow was lodged in the foot of Imam Ali (peace be upon him). Despite multiple attempts, the pain of removing it was unbearable.
Until the Imam began his prayer, and the arrow was removed from his foot without his divine being noticing.
The reason is that his mind and thoughts were so immersed in God that all awareness was directed toward the Creator, placing his entire body into the subconscious realm. As a result, no strain was felt, and this phenomenon has also been scientifically proven.
You can test this yourself.
When you go to the dentist or are about to receive an injection that causes pain, think about something that fully absorbs your attention in that moment. You will notice that you either don't feel the pain of the dental procedure or injection, or it becomes significantly less intense.
Now, let me ask you:
Is trade, for people who have never done it, a conscious action or a subconscious one?
Is commercial negotiation conscious or subconscious?
Is buying and selling conscious or subconscious?
It becomes evident that for people unfamiliar with trade, all these actions are conscious.
And because it is a conscious action, it brings mental and emotional strain. Otherwise, in trade and negotiation, there is no need to move even half a kilogram of weight. So, when a newcomer says that business is hard, it means their mind is under pressure, not their body.
It is their soul that is under pressure, not their body.
The reason is that their subconscious has never been trained in trade or buying and selling.
In contrast, those who have practiced buying, selling, and negotiating repeatedly have incorporated these tasks into their subconscious. As a result, they experience no strain or difficulty.
9. Have You Paid Attention to These Verses of the Qur'an?
God has sent a book to humanity, which is a clarification for people and a guide for those who are firmly committed.
In the Qur'an, the terms related to negotiation and its derivatives are mentioned 280 times, buying and selling 32 times, and trade 9 times.
All of you noble ones recite Ayat al-Kursi (the 255th verse of the second chapter of the Quran).
But have you ever carefully read the verse before Ayat al-Kursi?
"O ye who believe! Spend out of [the bounties] We have provided for you, before the Day comes when no bargaining [Will avail], nor friendship nor intercession. "
All of you know that this day refers to the Day of Judgment.
When does God want us to give in charity?
In this world, before the Day of Judgment.
Thus, this verse indicates that today, in this world, these three things exist, and when I read this verse, I understand that the world involves these three things.
1. Buying and selling
2. Sincere friendship
3. Intercession for one another
Because God says these things will not be available tomorrow, it means we should make use of the opportunity while we have it today.
In another verse, with a similar expression, He says:
"Speak to my servants who have believed, that they may establish regular prayers, and spend [in charity] out of the sustenance we have given them, secretly and openly, before the coming of a Day in which there will be neither mutual bargaining nor befriending."
Again, we see buying and selling and sincere friendship mentioned.
This means the world involves these two things.
1. Buying and selling
2. Sincere friendship
How fortunate we are, the Aradis, as we have both.
Our profession is trade and buying and selling, and the sincere friendships between us Aradis are well-known to both the public and the elite.
It is impossible for you to show someone a video of Arad's ceremonies without them acknowledging the compassion and friendship among us.
Yesterday, when the video of the birth celebration of Lady Fatima (peace be upon her) was posted on the site, and today when I watched the video of The Friday That Was Enjoyable, I thought to myself, "What a strange sense of unity and friendship we Aradis have!" May God have mercy on the noble father of our dear president, and I am certain that the reward for this unity reaches his soul. May God gather him with the righteous in the afterlife, God willing.
May God forgive all the departed souls of us Aradis who, in the trade and business work that is encouraged in the Qur'an, maintain such sincere friendships with one another.
You can find many companies in the world whose business is trade and buying and selling, but since money is involved, it is rare to find such genuine friendships among them.
10. Buying and Selling as an Unconscious Act
When you want to tell your child to do something, and if they don’t, what do you say?
You take away something they really love.
For example, you might say, "Son, study your lessons, or I’ll take your PlayStation, and it will be gone."
And how much the Prophet of God turned trade and buying and selling into a beloved and attractive action among people, that when God wants to warn the believers, He says, "Pay attention, when you go to the Day of Judgment, there will be no buying and selling, no sincere friendship anymore."
And God repeated these words in His book so much, and never mentioned other occupations, that trade and buying and selling among the Muslims of the early days of Islam became an unconscious action.
Now, consider your own lives.
Are these three things also important to you, with the rest fading away?
- Buying and selling
- Sincere friendships
- Interceding for others
It is clear that when buying and selling comes first, sincere friendships and intercession are part of the trade, not something separate from it.
If other matters, unrelated to these three aspects that all pertain to trade and buying and selling, are prominent in your life, know that you are wandering in another world, one that holds little goodness or blessing.
Your Lord speaks to you about certain matters, but you are engaged elsewhere.
In other words, you are not truly the audience of the Qur'an, and you are not benefiting from its guidance, even though you read it every day.
