10. Do others prefer you to be wealthy or poor?

Imagine you are the ruler of a city and, by chance, you are very wealthy and self-sufficient.

You need to choose a successor for yourself.

Would you choose your successor from the poor, or from the rich?

Imagine you are the owner of a global company and need to select a deputy for yourself.

Would you choose your deputy from the poor and penniless, or from the wealthy and prosperous?

Imagine you are the head of an international organization and need to choose a senior manager for yourself.

Would you choose your senior manager from the incapable and the needy, or from the capable and self-sufficient?

Imagine you are a commander, powerful and authoritative, and people follow you, saying “yes” to everything you command.

Would you want those who follow your orders to be from noble families, or from beggars and the weak?

Do you think that because you are a Muslim, you would prefer your successor to be wealthy, your deputy to be rich, your senior manager to be capable and self-sufficient, and your subordinates to be from noble families? Or do you think non-Muslims would feel differently about this?

If we asked this question to a cow-worshiper, what answers would we get?

If we asked a secular Turk, what would we hear?

If we asked a Christian American or a Jewish Israeli, what answers would we receive?

We see that the answers are the same, no matter the religion, place, or race. Everyone, all around the world, with any belief, would give the same response.

Thus, it becomes clear that this matter is part of the innate nature of all human beings, embedded in our being before we even enter the world.

The question arises: If God, our Creator, made all of us with this innate nature, does He Himself want His believing and obedient servants to be poor, beggars, and lacking?

Did He create us with a nature that desires wealth, and then does He act contrary to that nature?

Have you not heard God's words when He said:

"So direct your face toward the religion, inclining to truth. [Adhere to] the fitrah of Allah upon which He has created [all] people.

No change should there be in the creation of Allah .

That is the correct religion, but most of the people do not know." Surah Ar-Rum, verse 30

So it is clear that the nature upon which all people were created comes from God's nature, and the true and steadfast religion is aligned with that nature.

Therefore, whenever you see a group commanding you to follow something under the name of religion, and it contradicts your nature and the nature of people around the world, know that they are lying, and it is not part of the true religion.

How can God, who is self-sufficient and rich, consider poverty to be a virtue for His successors?

If you were wealthy, would you prefer poverty for your family and friends?

What would you think of someone who is wealthy but desires poverty and misery for their family and loved ones?

You would surely consider this person lowly and despicable.

And God is free from the attributes that the polytheists ascribe to Him.

When God created Adam, He said:

"Remember when your Lord said to the angels, 'I am going to place a successive human authority on earth.'" Surah Al-Baqarah, verse 30

The angels replied, "We are already here, praising and sanctifying You, so why do You need this?" God replied, "I know what you do not know."

Did God choose poverty and misery for His vicegerent, and was this the knowledge He had that the angels did not?

Imam Ali (AS) says: "The poor are humiliated among people, and when they speak the truth, no one accepts it."

Which prophet of God do you know who was humiliated among people?

God, who says:

"Indeed, We honoured the progeny of Adam." Surah Al-Isra, verse 70

Did God honor people with poverty and helplessness, or by the fact that He continued and said, "We provided them with pure sustenance"?

So how is it that some people consider poverty to be a virtue for the believer and wealth to be a disgrace?

They are lost in a misguided path.

How much time will it take for them to realize that they are drowning in falsehood, and how much longer before they move from poverty to wealth?

God forbid that a person takes as a role model those who will lead them to hardship in this world and torment in the hereafter, and listens to the words of those who add nothing but misery and misfortune to their life.

11. What is the key to wealth?

Surely, all of you noble ones know that moving from Mashhad to Tehran city does not take you to Zahedan city.

When the Prophet of God says that sustenance is divided into ten parts, with nine parts in trade and one part in other professions.

When Imam Sadiq (PBUH) says that nine-tenths of wealth is in trade.

When his blessed presence says: "Do not abandon trade, for you will become humiliated and insignificant."

When Commander of the Faithful, Imam Ali (PBUH), says: "Engage yourself in trade so that you may become independent of what is in the hands of others."

They have shown us the main path to wealth.

Now, we stray from the main path and take other routes, expecting to become wealthy, yet we do not. We keep trying, but we fail, and then we complain to God, saying, "God, I have worked so hard, from dawn till the late hours, but I do not reach what I want."

And God says: "My servant, you are on the wrong path. Why do you expect to reach Tehran while you are heading to Zahedan?

Even if you have the best car and drive without stopping, not taking rest, the road you are on leads to the wrong place."

12. What is the key to success in business?

Honestly, three days ago, I had a call with the esteemed Mr. Ghorbani, and I told him, "we are preparing an article about the main factors of success in business, and I would like you to guide us. If we were to ask you what is the key to success in business, what would you say?"

He gave me one word from the esteemed president, which completely shook up all the mental calculations of my team and me, and that became the topic of today's article.

So, after hearing that one word, I went and shared it with my colleagues, and it took about two days to complete the research on this topic, which led to the text you're reading now.

If we were to ask you, what is the key to success in business, what would you say?

Patience?

Effort?

Intelligence?

Correct strategy?

Good negotiation?

High promotion?

Strong branding?

Proper supply?

Good product pricing?

I’ll pause for a moment so you can think carefully and tell us what the key to success really is.

We proceed with the same answer you gave.

Did you not see those who also had that same answer you mentioned but did not succeed?

Do all successful Aradi traders have the trait you mentioned?

No, many people who did not have the main key to success that you mentioned, succeeded.

Exactly, during the past week, senior managers emphasized one phrase.

That is, in order to become great, someone greater than you must first accept to make you great.

When that greater person decides to make you great, one of the things they will certainly do is to make you mingle with other great people so that you can grow.

And we all confirmed this statement.

Well, this is the responsibility of that great person.

What is my duty in this situation?

What should I do in this?

What is the most important secret I need to strengthen in myself so that I do not miss out on this opportunity?

To better understand this, we referred to the Book of God.

And we examined the believers that the Messenger of God intended to make them grow.

One word was repeated in all of them, and we were astonished to realize that this word was the same word that Mr. Ghorbani mentioned to us, quoting from the Honorable President.

Let's read a few verses together.

"Even the Messenger and the believers with him cried out, 'When will Allah’s help come?' Indeed, Allah’s help is always near." Surah Al-Baqarah, verse 214

So it becomes clear that faith is very important.

"And how many a prophet [fought and] with him fought many religious scholars. But they never lost assurance due to what afflicted them in the cause of Allah, nor did they weaken or submit. And Allah loves the steadfast." Surah Aal-E-Imran, verse 146

So, fighting in the way of Allah is valuable.

Not becoming weak, not giving up, and not surrendering are very important.

Patience is very important.

"And those who later believed, migrated, and struggled alongside you, they are also with you." Surah Al-Anfal, verse 75

So, it becomes clear that faith is important.

Emigrating, which we have previously written about, is important.

Fighting, which we have talked a lot about, is also very important.

"So be steadfast as you are commanded O Prophet, along with those who turn in submission to Allah with you. And do not transgress." Surah Hud, verse 112

So, perseverance is a very key point.

If a person has gone down the wrong path, repenting and returning is very significant.

Not becoming arrogant after becoming wealthy is important for God.

Among these traits, the one that has been repeated the most is the word faith, which is mentioned in Surah Baqarah (249), At-Tawbah (88), Hud (58, 66, 94), Ghafir (25), At-Tahrim (8), and Al-A'raf (88).

In fact, having faith in trade, meaning having a strong belief about trade, is the most important key to success.

However, there is something more important than this.

If you look at all the verses, one word is repeated in all of them.

Interestingly, Allah revealed many verses that neither emphasize faith, nor fighting, nor patience, nor perseverance, nor any other trait—only this one word appears, and no other word is connected to it.

That word is (Ma), which means "being with."

In Persian, we say "we are with you."

"Ma" means being with someone.

You read in the Ziyarah of Arbaeen for Imam Hussein (AS):

"Fama`akum ma`akum." (I am with you, verily with you.)

"Ma" can be translated as "being with someone".

Those who were saved alongside the Messenger of God had the most important quality of simply being there.

This means that nothing is more important for God than this being there.

This is why, in the most important verse that mentions the beautiful name of the Messenger of God, it says:

"Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah. And those with him are firm with the disbelievers and compassionate with one another." Surah Al-Fath, verse 29

Allah saved a group with Prophet Noah (AS) from drowning.

What trait did this group have?

Allah says about this event:

"But they rejected him, so We saved him and those with him in the Ark." Surah Al-A'raf, verse 64

He does not mention any other trait except that they were with Noah.

Allah recounts the story of the people of 'Ad and their Prophet Hud:

"We saved him, and those who were with him, through Our mercy." Surah Al-A'raf, verse 72

You surely know that Allah has set examples for us humans.

One of the examples that Allah has set for us Muslims is Prophet Ibrahim (AS).

You probably knew this.

Now, the question is: Did you know that those who were with Ibrahim (AS) are also role models for us?

"You already have an excellent example in Abraham and those with him." Surah Al-Mumtahanah, verse 4

O Allah, I knew that Ibrahim (AS) is a good example, but I didn't know that those who were with Ibrahim are also examples.

Exactly, because what is most important to God is that you are with Him.

Look at our festival.

Why is there so much excitement?

It’s because we don’t want to miss the chance to be with senior managers.

It is true that our promotion is extended.

Prices will increase next year, and we want to take advantage of the promotion before prices go up.

There are foreign trips and business delegations, etc., in the festival.

All of these are accepted.

But all of this is secondary.

Those who are eager to join the festival know that the main thing is to be with the senior managers.

The important thing is to just be there.

Do you remember when I said that a great person must decide to make us great?

And then I asked what we should do in this situation?

The most important thing we should do is to be there.

Be there even if we are less patient.

Be there even if we are lazy.

Be there even if we don’t have anything.

Be there even if we are tired.

Be there even if we are weak.

Be there even if we feel all the traits opposite to successful people within us.

For God, this being there is more important than anything else.

When we are there, all the good traits slowly appear within us.

But if we are not there, even if we have all those good traits, they will gradually leave us.

So, the one word I must stand by more than anything is the word "Ma."

This is where we remember the advice of the Messenger of God to Ammar, when he said:

"O Ammar, if you see Ali tread through a certain valley, and others tread through another, tread through the way of Ali and leave the others, because Ali is with the truth and the truth is with Ali."
