HISTORY OF OUR BRANDS Daniel Green Daniel Green, a young salesman for shoes who worked on the road for the Wallace Elliott Company in New York City, made a trip to Dolgeville, New York, in the year 1881. To Daniel Green's amazement, the Dolgeville Felt Mill had produced a pair of felt shoes out of remnants of piano felt that had been cut off during the manufacturing process. Daniel Green observed that many of the manufacturing employees used these felt shoes to protect their feet from the chilly stone flooring of the plant. These shoes kept their feet warm and pleasant. Women’s slippers Because he was so taken aback by the softness and coziness of the slippers, Daniel Green decided to take a pair back to his house in Canastota, New York so that he could show them to his brother William. After returning to Dolgeville, these two excited young men met with the proprietor of the felt mill, Mr. Dolge, to inquire about the possibility of arranging for the mill to produce felt shoes and slippers for sale to the shoe trade. Daniel Green was given sole control over the felt footwear when Mr. Dolge agreed to create all of the footwear out of felt. Following their return to Canastota, the Green brothers established their company in a room located over the kitchen of their father Daniel Green's home. green leather slippers

In 1882, there were a total of 600 pairs of felt slippers sold, and both William and Daniel Green carried samples of the product. The next year saw sales of 2,400 pairs, and by 1884 the company had made sales of 24,000 pairs of slippers. In the year 1885, slippers and shoes made of felt were introduced, both of which included felt heels and could be worn on the street or in the boudoir. The addition of fancy colored felt and white piano felt for the soles led to an increase in sales to 75,000 pairs. As a result of the fast expansion of the corporation, it was necessary to relocate to Utica, New York, and then ultimately to New York City. Daniel Green passed away in 1891, and not long after his passing, the business was formally established in the state of New York. Even after more than one hundred million pairs have been sold, Daniel Green slippers continue to stand for the same superior quality and unrivaled level of comfort as they did when they were first created by William and Daniel Green. The Daniel Green slipper collection of today has developed into a broad range of fresh aesthetics, fashion, and practicality for use both inside and outside the house. Many of the designs, however, have maintained their classic and conventional appearances. L.B. Evans In the year 1804, T. & A. Evans, also known as Thomas and Amos Evans, were operating a little shoe company in South Reading, which was also attached to a general store (present day Wakefield, MA). There was no shoe factory in the sense that we use the term today; rather, Thomas and Amos worked out of a modest store where they cut the leather for their shoes. Thomas and Amos supplied the town's residents with the uppers, bottoms, counters, and heels that were later built into shoes. The actual process of creating shoes was subcontracted out to various residents of the community. Every pair of shoes was stitched together by hand whenever the shoemaker farmers had a moment to spare. The shoemaker farmers conducted their business in the Evans shop, where the Evans' account records show that very little cash was ever exchanged. daniel green leather slippers

In point of fact, a monetary settlement with each and every individual shoe worker was only reached once every six months. Additionally, customers cleared their accounts every six months, and even in this process, very little cash was exchanged. James Madison Evans began his career at the company in the year 1832 and remained there as owner and operator until the year 1857. Lucius Bolles Evans, the younger brother of James Madison, began working for himself in the shoe industry in the year 1841. At the same time, he established the current firm that carries his name, L.B. Evans, and named it after himself. Lucias Bolles remained active in the company until the year 1880, and in the final years of his involvement, Harvey B. Evans, his son, became one of his business partners. It was under his reign that the first shoe machinery was made available to the public. After L.B. Evans died away, the company was carried on by Harvey B., who established the firm foundation and unwavering dedication that are still in place today. In 1905, Harvey died away, and soon after that, the company was renamed the L.B. Evans' Son Company and formalized as a corporation. The subsequent generation of Evans took over the leadership roles, and they have maintained the same core beliefs and unwavering dedication to excellence as their predecessors. L.B. Evans managed to live through a number of wars as well as depressions. Today, Daniel Green Enterprises owns and manages L.B. Evans as a part of the company. The company has evolved to include new updated classics, luxury items like as elk and deer, and a variety of tough, warm outdoor designs. However, many of the old forms of gentleman's slippers are still available as part of the portfolio. Daniel Green Enterprises has not wavered in its dedication to the quality and comfort guarantee that was first set by the Evans brothers more than two centuries ago. patricia green leather slippers
