To prevent the hinge from separating when removing the hinge pin, it is advisable to hold the outside edge of the door between the floor and the bottom of the door.

The old hinges must be taken off and the new ones installed before a spring-loaded hinge can be installed.
The size of spring-loaded hinges is often greater than ordinary door hinges, so if this is the case with your doors, you may need to drill additional mounting holes and maybe modify the framework and door mortises to make room for the new spring-loaded hinges.
The spring-loaded hinges are available in a number of metal finishes to go with the interior design of a house.
Note: In most circumstances, the amount of tension, which regulates the speed at which the door shuts, may be modified with either the spring-loaded hinge pin or the spring-loaded hinge.
