I must confess that I had never made cake pops before, but I was determined to do so to commemorate our decision to reveal our baby's gender.
I've made Oreo truffles, which are comparable to cake pops on some level, multiple times. Essentially, they are cake pops made from cookie dough rather than cake. Essentially, dessert. I am aware of how challenging it can occasionally be.
How to Prepare Cake Pops.
You may be surprised to learn that making cake pops is surprisingly simple. It requires little time, which is an advantage.
Even though my cakes are not entirely authentic cake pops, they can be transported similarly. They resemble cake balls with sticks inserted as opposed to cake pops. Who wants to get their hands dirty? Anyway, at the conclusion of the post, I'll demonstrate how to create cake pops with the cake on top and the stick protruding from the bottom.

Follow the instructions on the back of the cake mix box to prepare the cake. Before serving, allow the cake to completely cool down. You should wash your hands. The next step is to crumble the cake into a large mixing bowl using your hands. Combine approximately one-third of a cup of frosting with your hands (I used milk chocolate that I had purchased from a store).
The consistency of the mixture should be thick but not lumpy. I find angry cake balls extremely irritating. Get a cookie measuring cup (I used a 1.5t scoop which I love). (Remember that each person needs a minimum of three cookie scoops!) Using the same scoop, remove a portion of the mixture and a portion of the cake mix (I tapped the open side of the cookie scoop against the inside of the bowl).
With your hands, combine the ingredients until they form a ball. Form it into a ball using your hands. Form the remaining ingredients into small balls (my cake mixture made 18 balls).

The coating method
I purchased Candy Melts from JoAnn Fabrics. Obtain a small microwave-safe container and Candy Melts (I used a small oatmeal bowl).
Melt approximately five chocolate squares in the microwave and pour them into the bowl. Then, collect your cake pop sticks (I bought it from JoAnn Fabric).
After dipping the stick in melted candy, insert it quickly at least halfway into the cake pan. Continue in this manner with the remaining cake pops.
Then, arrange the pops in a single layer on a cookie sheet. Because they wouldn't fit in my freezer, I placed them in the refrigerator for 30 minutes, and they came out perfectly. Place your Candy Melts in a microwave-safe mug (I filled mine to the top).
Then, melt the Candy Melts according to the instructions on the package. Coat the pop cake thoroughly by dipping it into the mug first. Permit the coating to slowly drip. Put the pop in the middle of the baking sheet. If you wish to use sprinkles, do so immediately before the coating hardens. Continue in the same manner with the remaining pops.
Tutorial and tips for making cake pops
These may appear to be a lot of work, but trust me when I say that putting them together will be a breeze once you've planned everything out. Each of these took roughly an hour to finish (not including the baking and cooling time).
If you want your cakes to be cake pops rather than cake balls on a stick, instead of drying them on a cookie sheet, protect the stick by wrapping it in Styrofoam. This will ensure the cakes harden properly. I chose this method because I wanted my popcorn to remain intact while sitting on a plate.
Please note that the Candy Melt coating is delicious. I used a dark chocolate cake, but the coating is so thick that it's impossible to tell there's cake underneath. Just putting it out there for consideration.
It should be noted that candies are available in numerous hues. Gel food coloring is another option to consider if the desired color is unavailable. No food coloring drops should be used.
