In addition to being smooth as petals, this lip balm does a fantastic job of relieving chapped lips.
Very pale pink hue; smooth, glossy, and creamy texture.
Natural flavors like rose wax, essential oils, or rose petals can be added to lip balm in place of synthetic scents.
Lip balms are just one of several beauty products that have the time-honored favored scent of rose.
A lot of mass-produced items, however, fail to even make reference to roses.
Popular rose lip balms are often little more than a combination of petroleum jelly, refined cottonseed oil, synthetic rose flavoring, and a hint of red dye.
Rather than buying a store-brand lip balm with questionable components, why not make your own that smells like real roses?
This easy-to-follow guide will teach you how to manufacture your own rose lip balm, so your lips will always be soft and kissable.
With this easy recipe, you can make your own all-natural lip balm without worrying about exposing yourself or your family to any harmful chemicals.
It's made with organic butter and oils, natural waxes, and a tiny bit of color for a healthy boost.

Why bother making your own rose-flavored lip balm?
Exceptional Components
One of the primary benefits of making your own rose lip balm is that you get to decide what goes into it.
This can help you avoid the potentially harmful ingredients included in some drugstore and grocery store brands of lip balm, such as synthetic fragrances and petroleum byproducts.
Unfortunately, many over-the-counter lip balms actually make my lips feel drier than they were before I applied them.
It's easy to understand why they were categorized in this way after perusing their labels.
Mineral oil and petrolatum are petroleum-based products that may help seal in moisture but do not provide the necessary hydration to treat dry lips.
To make matters worse, artificial preservatives and fragrances only irritate the skin on already dry, chapped lips.

Conveniently adaptable
It's also not hard to whip up some DIY lip balm with your own unique twist.
Whether you like your lip balm soft or firm depends on your particular preference, and the ratio of oils to beeswax can be altered to get either texture.
Making perfect uniformity is a breeze now.
If you prefer a more subtle tint, you can adjust the amount of mica you apply to your lip balm to reach the desired color.
Or you could simply put on some lipstick.
Spend less
Making your own lip balm is a great way to save money, especially when you consider how much high-quality store-brand versions may cost.
To further save expenses, you can reuse the same packaging for future batches.
Since lip balms and salves sold in stores sometimes come in plastic containers, making your own at home is both cheaper and better for the environment.
The tiny glass jars shown in the photographs of the individual balms are the same ones I've used to make many of my other handmade beauty items, including my DIY tinted lip balm
These cute metal lip balm tins, or the lovely glass jars with wood grain tops displayed in the collection images, would be perfect for presenting your product to customers.
You could also make your own green tea lip balm in a small glass jar, like Kyla did, by recycling an old container from your skincare or makeup collection.

Stick with a Rose in It
Wax refined from rose petals yields a silky product with a delicate floral aroma.
The rose lip balm's buttery, silky, and extremely hydrating quality is in large part due to this ingredient.
Rose wax contains all the benefits of pure rose essential oil, including a more wallet-friendly price tag.
Since it has such a potent aroma, just a tiny amount will do the trick.
You only need a tiny amount of rose wax to give the entire batch of lip balm a beautiful flowery aroma.
It smells like rose candy and has a similar sweetness.
Its sweet, floral scent isn't excessively floral or cloying, so even folks who don't usually like floral scents may find themselves drawn to it.
If you can get your hands on rose wax, use that to make this lip balm instead of the other ingredients.
You can add the leftovers to a variety of homemade beauty products.
Although we originally used rose wax in our rose cleaning balm recipe, it was in this wonderful rose body balm.
Substances with Use
Adding essential oils for the flavor to your lip balm is possible in a few different ways.
Pure rose oil, often called rose otto, is extracted from rose petals.
The excellent fragrance comes at a hefty price, but it does make the room smell delicious.
If you have access to or are prepared to invest in high-quality rose oil, a few drops added to your lip balm will give it a gorgeous, concentrated rose scent.
Dilution with a carrier oil is an affordable alternative to using pure rose oil if you can't afford the former.
Look for rose otto that has been mixed with jojoba oil or coconut oil rather than sunflower oil, which goes rancid more rapidly.
Finally, if you can't find rose otto, rose geranium essential oil is a close second.

Even though rose geranium oil doesn't have the same floral aroma as rose otto, it works wonderfully in lip balms.
Oil infused with the scent of roses
If you want your lip balm to smell like roses, you can use rose petals to scent it.
Simply combine some dried rose petals of edible quality with some coconut oil to achieve this effect.
Afterward, in place of the coconut oil called for in the next step, use the oil you just infused with roses.
DIY Rose Petal Lip Balm Recipe
Place 1/4 cup of culinary rose petals in a heat-safe mason jar or glass measuring cup.
Next, rub a quarter cup of coconut oil onto the flower petals.
Gently mix the ingredients together using a clean spoon.
Check to see that all of the rose petals are coated in oil.
Then, simmer in the water bath for 2-4 hours, while heating the jar or cup on the burner.
Once the oil has cooled, strain it through a fine mesh sieve or cheesecloth.
You may now put your rose petal oil to use a lip balm.
Any surplus oil is great for moisturizing the skin.
Know that only dried rose petals fit for human consumption should be used in the production of rose oil.
If you put fresh flowers in the oil, it will go bad.
Unless you're buying organic, the fresh roses you bring home will also have pesticide residue.
Remember that lip balm made with rose-infused oil will have a very mild flavor and scent.
For a deeper rose aroma, try using rose wax or rose essential oil.
Is it possible to use rose petal powder to create a lip balm?
Rose petal powder is commonly used to impart a pinkish hue to the lips.
It's also an integral part of our rose petal lip mask, which helps keep lips soft and supple.
Rose petal powder isn't the finest ingredient for tinted lip balm, even though it provides a gorgeous lip treatment.
Powdered ingredients, such as rose powder and beetroot powder, may give your final product a gritty feel if you try to dissolve them in oil or shea butter.
It's best to use rose-infused lip masks and mica to give your lips a pink color before adding lip balm.

Recipe Notes
Retention and shelf life
Shea butter (1 teaspoon) should be used in equal parts if rose wax is not being used (1 teaspoon).
Make sure to select containers that will hold the 42 ml of lip balm that this recipe produces.
Simply divide the recipe in half to decrease the quantity without compromising the quality.
If properly stored, your homemade rose lip balm will remain effective for about a year.
Store in a cool, dry location away from heat or light.
How to create a rose lip balm that is effective
If you're melting lip balm, wait until it's entirely clear before taking it off the heat.
Graininess in the final product is a sign that the wax was not melted completely, so be on the lookout for small lumps or cloudiness.
Use a small steel whisk when incorporating the rose wax and mica to make sure everything is thoroughly combined.
A Turkish coffee pot or measuring cup with a spout is useful for pouring lip balm into containers.
Use a tiny funnel to pour the lip balm into your containers if the melting container lacks a spout.
If a funnel is being used, the procedure must be finished quickly to prevent the ingredients from setting.
By quickly cooling lip balms in the refrigerator, wax lumps can be avoided.
However, don't leave them in the fridge for too long or they'll freeze solid and crack.
Once set, remove it from the refrigerator.
